For too long, Victorian Governments of all persuasions have zoned out of the conversation on social and affordable housing supply.
The latest figures show a current minimum supply shortfall of 7,970 social housing properties in the Eastern Metropolitan Region (EMR).
That’s 7,970 families who are unable to access safe, secure and affordable housing.
Alarmingly, this figure will increase to 11,420 by 2036 if action is not taken.
The EAHA is doing everything we can, but only the State Government has the power to fix this unacceptable situation.
The same old policies are not working – real action is needed urgently.
